Nashville too hot? Tips to cool off!
Here are a few ways for YOU to cool off during these hot “dog days” of summer. Yep, a couple of them are weird, but that’s why you read this blog – to get creative yet spot-on advice, right?
- Get a large bowl of ice water and sink your feet in it. Within 5 minutes of foot chilling, I guarantee you will be cooled off. If you don’t want to go that radical, then (my mother’s trick) run icy cold water over your wrists for 30-45 seconds.
- A similar trick to the above suggestion is to moisten a cotton ball with rubbing alcohol. Then swipe the back of your neck (or your forearms) with it. You’ll feel cooler…Just don’t get it in your eyes.
- Buy a chiller bandana for about $6. Look up “cooling bandana” at Amazon. The reason I know these work? The hard-working outdoor guys from Public Works swear by these (swear as in a good way). Plus, you can look right fashionable as well.
- Freeze a couple of water bottles and place them in front of your regular fan. The fan will then send chilled air towards you.
- One word: popsicles.
- Place your favorite fragrance in the refrigerator. As you head out the door, spritz yourself with a bit of chilled fragrance—even more delightful on a hot day!
- Use satin pillowcases (or sheets) in the summer; they just feel sleeker and cooler.
And to keep your faithful canine cool during these dog days, buy a wading pool – and let him romp in it in the early morning and after sunset. Ahhhh. Chill out in Nashville. And by the way? The real estate market is hot, too, so call us when you’re ready.
